ArtFight, Tapas Shutdown, and More

It's about time we had an update. Let's get into it!

Wix has doubled its price now to help pay for all of their new AI features (which as it stands, we don't even use.) I am grateful for our old account and the option to use the original editor with it, because the new format with AI is a headache to even try to learn. A big part of the problem is I (Hannah talking,) have a vision for the website already, and I enjoy the process of building things. The AI more has you describe what you want, and that just isn't fun for me. So yeah, I'm sticking to what I know, but it was over $1,000 to renew everything.
News dropped that webcomic & webnovel platform Tapas is shutting down. It came as a bit of a shock, but we covered what we'd suggest doing in a recent video. We'll be updating our courses page here on the website soon to reflect this change in platform availability. We'll give some guidance there for publishing your own webcomics on other platforms.
Overall, it's getting rough, but we'll manage.
Hey, there's some good news, too! We've recently had a huge increase in site traffic. More readers are finding our stories, which has me paying a bit more attention to the overall state of the website. Not that I wasn't paying attention before, I've just had my hands full. Now feels like a good time to reduce the workload elsewhere so I can increase productivity here.
So, what have we been up to? Andrew's had his handful working two jobs for a while now, while I have been working as a content creator for a new social media platform. My current contract goes to the end of this year, but it doesn't take too much time out of my busy schedule. More time has definitely been invested into my other channels, with one having a several videos every week. I'm actually recording and editing everything, so it's a lot! Even today I'll be working on a video to release tomorrow, just as soon as this news update goes live. It's fun, I love this, but I am definitely pulled in a lot of directions right now.
I have been popping in here and adding to our alt text to help make the website more accessible. It's something we set out to do at the beginning of the year. You may have also noticed some updates to our community page. Let me tell you what that is all about.
I was able to participate in ArtFight this year. First time! We had a huge influx of content for the site because of it. (A big thank you to all of the amazing artists who've given the go-ahead on sharing their work here!)
I drew 107 full color pieces of art for the event in July. That is the most I have ever drawn in a single month. I actually had hit my goal of 100 in just 3 weeks time, while taking Saturdays off. I made a lot of detailed character sheets during the event, which I have been uploading over time to our Ko-fi account. They're very helpful if you ever get the desire to make fan art of our characters (which we welcome just as long as you keep it respectful of us and the characters involved!)
I'm going to make it a goal to add a roadmap for Beyond Remnants at the beginning of 2027. Let's see if I can make that happen.
Thanks for checking in. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. See ya!
